Paper-free office
GMD operates a virtually paper-free office, with all official communications being via email or Portable Document Format (PDF) files. Even our Invoices and Design/Artwork Proofs are supplied as PDF files.
Paper for printing
All the paper sourced by our printers is from European Union FSC grade forests where more trees are planted for the future than are felled each year. This exacting standard is seen in the industry as the Gold Standard for responsible husbandry of forests. In addition, papers are processed using Elemental Chlorine Free technology to avoid the production of damaging toxins.
Toxic free inks
All the inks used by our printers are based on clean vegetable oil and supplied in eco-friendly packaging. They also use on-site mixing technology which allows the colours required to be mixed to pin point accuracy meaning virtually no wastage.

Re-use before recycle
Whilst re-using paper to make Newsprint and Packaging is environmentally sound, our printers re-use every surplus piece produced. This is becoming a more popular and environmentally sound alternative to opting straight for recycling, a process which involves cleaning 'dirty' paper (which has been printed onto previously) back into pristine white sheets. Far better to make use of this excess 'clean' paper prior to sourcing 'recycled' paper.
In addition to this however both GMD and its suppliers recycle all used materials where possible, including plastics, metal and glass as well as previously used paper.
GMD is also a member of Design Can Change a global organisation aimed at helping the design industry seek and maintain sustainable practices. |
